I had a couple of those last week. It was a little white bump like a pimple. But I know I got mine after biting my tongue. It went away on its own after a day or two. You could try holding hot salt water in your mouth (in the area of the sore) for a few minutes. Do that a couple of times a day until it's healed. Don't bite or pick at it. That will make it worse.

Cancers of the mouth are not as common as other causes of mouth sores. If it doesn't go away in a few days you should see your physician.

You could have bit it while you were sleeping. Or, it could be a canker or cold sore. Mouth sores are also seen in lupus and Crohn's disease.
