Think of it like this. Your stomach is a motor, it converts food and saliva into energy for your body. (This is a VERY simple way of putting it, and not something to tell a science or biology teacher!) When you put anything (Or just about anything!) in your mouth, you will generate saliva. Saliva helps with pre-degestion and breakdown of foods. It also sends a signal to the stomach to start generating digestive acids to help break down the food it thinks is going to follow the saliva.

A tic-tac or a piece of gum generates much more saliva than you need to process the material from the gum or the tic-tac. The stomach don't know this, and goes into food process mode. If you had anything in your stomach, the acids produced by the introduction of the saliva digest whatever little bit is left in a hurry! Since your gut is now completly empty, you feel hungry.

It's like when you step on the gas in a car. The car does not know if it is in gear to move, or in neutral and you are just "winding up the motor". It still uses the signal you send it. That signal being; "Get ready belly! Here comes the food"!

I think it's cause your exercising your mouth as you chew and it makes you hungry. And as for the tic tacs i think it's the flavor that brings out the hunger in you.

I actually asked my friend this same question but about gum and she told me it's because I keep chewing and my stomach thinks I’m probably eating food and since I’m not it gets hungry. I don't know if it’s true but hey I’ll take that answer.

your stomach produces acid as it is expecting food. when none (or tiny tic tacs) arrive it causes the food already in there to be digested faster and then you feel hungry

You get the salivary glands working and also the flavors going in your mouth and it sends a message to your stomach to start digesting.

Gets your salivary glands going and you want more food. Brush your teeth. That seems to help for some reason.

you're teasing your stomach. it increases your saliva and your stomach starts producing more acid to start digesting, except there's nothing to digest, so it makes you want to eat.

i can't think of any reason for this to happen, but it could be mental, your thinking about food, so it makes you realize your hungry.
