I think lower back tats are sexy but getting to be cliche. To label a lower back tattoo as a "tramp stamp" is a stereotypical moniker which suggests that a woman who has one is sexually promiscuous and that isn't necessarily true. Personally I think anyone who jumps on a stereotypical bandwagon is an idiot. It's like accusing anyone who listens to rock music of being satanic. It's absurd.

I got a tattoo on my lower back before I'd heard of the tramp stamp thing. I'd had one child before, and that was a place that hadn't changed, so I figured it probably wouldn't for a long time.
In reference to another answer I read, I had a c-section after getting my tattoo, and they didn't have an issue with giving me the necessary epidural.
I personally think that tattoos are very personal, and as long as it has meaning to you, go for it. It doesn't matter what other people think of it, they won't have it for the next 60 or so years.

Personally I have nothing against a tattoo on a girls lower back. I also don't think it signifies anything in particular. Myself I would never use the term tramp stamp. ( I prefer the term *** Antlers) There's nothing sexier that a girl sporting a cute little set of *** antlers......LOL... (Where is Blair when you need him)
OK, OK....the mob can put out their torches and disperse now.... I WAS JUST KIDDING. I like a tattoo in the sweet spot!! I did hear a comment on one of the boards last week that made me laugh
"We call em tramp stamps now, in fifty years we'll be calling them gramp stamps"
sorry, sorry, sorry....(slinking away)

It depends on the tastefulness of the presentation. If you are showing it off by wearing short shirts, and low rider jeans with your g-string showing then yes you are going to look trampy. Otherwise go for it.

I like them, BUT you need to be careful if you plan to have a baby, because they cannot put an epidural needle through the inked skin - in case ink particles go into the spinal canal. As long as it is is below the site of where an epidural would be placed, go for it.

my brother once said "if a chick's only tattoo is on her lower back, I know I can get laid"
I have several tats and won't get one there simply because it's overdone. Maybe once I'm covered, I'll fill that spot in!
