Because some people are impulsive and stupid and don't realize that chaining a dog to a tree is a slow torcherous death - by lack of love and compassion. They buy a dog, or perhaps a puppy b/c they are SOOOOOOOOOO cute - then they start with the bad habits that ALL dogs have if improperly trained and instead of trying to do things the right way - they settle for what's easiest and tie them to a tree. These people do not deserve to be pet owners and I firmly that if our county had law enforcement play a more active role in this - far less dogs would be torchered like this. UGH>

Well, it's a two fold answer. If all you do is leave your dog tied up and give him no attention whatsoever, then you don't even need a dog, and there is alot of these people...mainly impulsive people who get whatever they want when they want it and don' think of the circumstances with dog ownership. You should always have a fenced in area (ie. yard, pen, kennel) to keep your dogs if you keep them outside any. There is nothing wrong with teathering your dog for a little while, but he should not be left on there day in and day out never knowig the joys of having freedom to run. I live on a farm and we had stock dogs most of the time to work the animals and I cared for them deeply, but you could NOT keep them inside the house, for one, they would not be happy in the house, they wanted to be outside where they could see what was going on and for another, they would get very very messy, unles you wanted to give them a bath every day, keeping them in the house would be a big NO. Just because it's muddy or snowy etc.. outside dosen't mean that the livestock did not need to be worked, the weather doesn't stop a farm from running. And like hunters, sometimes they have upwards of 12-15 dogs in a pack, could you see them all piling in the house...no, and much like stock dogs, real working houds usually prefer to be outside rather than inside cause most of these dogs are night-owls it's in their genes to wonder what that noise is outside at 1am...trust me, ya don't wanna hear that hound bugel in the middle of your bedroom! LOL! There's usually exceptions to most rules, so we don't need to generalize.

Well at first they love it, but then after a few accedents like chewing, tearing up items, barking, scratching at the door where you sleeping, potty accidents the person will become annoyed or angered and just toss them out side to be left alone. After awhile they forget the reason why they got it and just feed and water till they get rid of the animal or it escapes or worst it passes on suddenly. A chain is cheaper than a fence

dogs are not humans sure its fine to treat a dog like family but people don't always have room for dogs in the house they sometimes need to go outside. i lived on a farm and the hound dogs were outside watching over the horses and goats. we breed some dogs and and they stay in the kennel at night. there is nothing wrong with leaving a dog outside.my family of 8 have always had dogs and most were chained to a tree in the front yard the dogs didn't care as long as we walked them they were fine. some dogs have jobs and can't spend there lives wasting away in a house.

Actually in the State of California.. thats no longer and option.. as of January 1st 2007.. it is illegal to keep any dog on any teather or chain for more than 3 hours per day. There is a substantial fine involved as well...(and I think they take yer dog if you are a repete offender)
Now i dont know how wise that law is to tell the truth.. I think yer average dog would rather be on a chain & alive rather than waiting on death row at the local animal shelter...

Some people are just getting dogs for the sake of saying "I have a dog".
I am sorry to hear that your friend isn't more loving with his two dogs. Why don't you ask your friend that same question...."if you don't have a fenced in yard, why get dogs?
Good luck

Because they see this adorable little puppy and automatically want to take it home, without ever thinking about the responsibility that it will take to have the pup become a mannered family member, much less that it needs to be properly house trained. Sadly that is why these poor pets end up this way.

Lol despite how perplexing you attempt. Even a properly trainned dogs will flee an unfenced backyard if something on the different factor catches him or scares him. A dogs won't stay in an unfenced backyard! If a typhoon occurs, etc, a a dogs organic instinct is to flee. It desires a ideal sized wood fenced, in any different case to be indoors with the owner and set loose on a leash under supervision. A marvel collar will in trouble-free terms help inspire your dogs to stay out the backyard! Humane and risk-free limitations the main useful thank you to maintain your dogs accurately restricted on your sources is to maintain her or him interior the homestead once you aren’t homestead and allow her or him outdoors in trouble-free terms under close supervision on a leash or in a securely fenced enclosure. some Fencing rules A 6-foot privateness fence is ultimate, struggling with your dogs or intruders from scaling it. wood or vinyl fencing is optimal for privateness, yet chain link is way less severe priced. (Small homestead windows coated with cord mesh would be cut back into wood fences to allow canines to ascertain out.) replace a short fence with a taller one, or upload an extension to the actual. Line the fence with rocks or a cement-crammed trench to steer away from digging. in case you won't be in a position to arise with the money for a fence, have a backyard which could be perplexing to fence, or stay in a house or townhouse the place fences are no longer allowed, evaluate letting your dogs out in trouble-free terms on a leash and taking her or him to a fenced dogs park or to a chum’s fenced backyard for play and exercising. you may additionally p.c. to seek for suggestion from a qualified dogs behaviorist approximately coaching your dogs to stay interior limitations via employing advantageous reinforcement.

Yes...in the house, howevr, in a cage in the corner, it gets out to eat its 2 small meals and to go in the back thats it. I don't know why she would adopt it if she cant give it a better life.
