about a minute before turning off. The lights are yellow what do the 2 items mean and why would they stay on like that before going off?

these lights come on at startup normally. most of such dash lights come on for a few seconds so you can tell they are working. if that one is staying on for more than a few seconds, you are probably getting near the time for an oil change. that vehicle keeps track of engine speed and other info and will come on when you are near time for oil change. if you go much further, they will come on and stay on. when you get it serviced, make sure that light is reset so the service mileage count will start over

This is the Dodge section, so not sure why you're asking about a Chevy in here, but whatever. Its sounds like you are due for an oil change.

my chevy equinox has light that has come on the looks like a horseshoe with a t/c in the middle of it does anyone know what this is cannot find it in the owner manuel

Check your oil. It shouldn't take that long to build up pressure. And the low oil pressure is throwing an error code into the check engine light.

Have it seen about now.

It's a maintenance reminder to have your oil changed.
If you have your oil changed make sure that the place resets your oil life index. This will make the light go out.

It could very well mean you are due for a mechanical check-up and oil change ,as per you auto mechanical guaranty service period
