The law actually stipulates that you dont have to be able to provide your DL, just your DL number. So what I did was memorize it. That way if you ever forget it you can just tell the cop the number. He will still threaten you that you have to have it, but all you have to provide is the number. That way he can still pull your record without having to call it in. If you dont have a DL or the number he has to call it in. So just memorize the number. If he still gives you a ticket go to court and contest it. The cop is banking on the fact that you are ignorant of the law and will just pay the ticket in order to save time or because its easier..

I am not sure where Tray got his/her information about not having to provide documentation. Because you have 24 hours to produce legal documentation such as your drivers license, registration or insurance card. Some officers will let it pass if you have the numbers memorized so they can run everything, but they can give you a ticket for not providing the actual documentation.
I don't believe it is a moving violation (points) if everything is legal. Your drivers license is not suspended or registration expired or insurance not valid etc. If you just don't have it on you, you should be fine and get no points, probably just a fine But if anything is wrong with your license, registration or insurance, you could get a moving violation which involves points on your license and fines or worse.
You would have to check with Eagleswood to see if you can get the costs and pay it on line. You may have to go there in person to provide them with the actual documentation before they will let you know what the fine is if any.
