one of my favorite star wars recipes came from a star wars activity book in the early 80s. Basically the recipe is to make two giant round butter cookies, and then make them into death stars by using your thumbprint to make the dimple of the superlaser, and a knife to gently make small lines for the trench, and different sections and a fork to make tiny holes.

you can also search online for the recipe for Wookiee Cookies, which came from the Star Wars cookbook of the same name. They also have a recipe for Death Star popcorn balls and a few other desserts, as well as Tusken Raider Taters, Yoda Soda, etc.

of course it was inspired by religion. you have the whole christ scenerio there. the birth of the messiah who is led into temptation but resists to become a leader of a movement towards change. a belief that good will triumph over evil. & I never saw the extras on the dvd. I don't own it yet. and if you think Star Wars is the only messiah based movie then take a better look at the Matrix trilogy or a deeper look at the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
