It's not particular painful - rather it ends getting irritating or annoying. The needles are VERY TINY and they don't penetrate very far at all.
If the tattoo site is soft you'll feel it less. I got mine on top of my wrist, just where a wristwatch covers and it's not particularly soft there. It didn't really hurt - as I said, it just got a little irritating!

First thing you need to know is that it is illegal in most states to tattoo a person under 18yo (and is considered statuatory rape in most states).
The second thing is, the percieved pain level with any tattoo is relative to your own tollerance. I've had clients who were big, burly bikers pass out on the first stroke; conversely, I've had skinny little biker babes tell me it tickled.
Third, tattoos generally hurt more when placed on areas with thin skin, and directly over bone; like, for instance, an ankle.
But, the bottom line is this: you'll never know until you get your first tattoo, just how it will feel. So, go small on the first one. That way, if it's too much for you to handle, it will be done in a short period of time.

It depends on who you ask. I have a tattoo and I thought the most painful parts were in the fatty tissues, the boney area didn't bother me. Where as, if you ask a friend of mine, the boney areas hurt the most. It depends on who you ask. It's not a pleasant feeling though, and I did scream several swear words. The needle is nothing like the needle at the doctors office, it doesn't resemble a needle at all. It's like a giant pen/gun....I'm not going to lie to you and tell you it won't hurt, because no matter where you get it done, its going to hurt.

I badly sprained my ankle about 3 weeks ago. I was in a hurry going down the stairs, lost my balance and landed on a bad side of my left foot, causing my left ankle to be stretched going on the inside. The first 48 hours were excruciating and the pain was un-believable. I've never had a serious ankle injury before.
So I immediately treated it using the RICE method. The following day, the bruising and swelling were so horrible. I found out that I got a second degree sprain and immediately panicked after that. I had a football game on that week and it been looking forward to it because I've been training for rt. I had teammates that had similar injuries and it took them months to fully recover, some of them stopped playing altogether. So I kinda had a short-term depression because I can't imagine myself not being able to run and play sports anymore.
Because I was so desperate to recover again, I contacted a lot of people that I know who do sports and asked them if they had similar injuries. One friend of mine, from the boy's football team in my university, told me about H.E.M. Ankle Rehab. I got a copy 4 days after I got injured. I immediately read and followed what was instructed and felt improvement on the first day. I was able to walk a bit, but I was in pain.
A couple of days after that, the swelling and bruising were subsid-ing significantly and on the fourth day, I was walking comfortably again. Although I've had felt a bit of stiffness, I continued doing what was instructed. My sister was surprised that I have recovered this fast. I told her about this book and was shocked on how effective the procedures were. I'm just so happy that this book was shared to me and how effective it is.
Heal your ankle fully & fast?

Tell your Mom that the tattoo idea is a great one (and it is) but that you need to wait until you're 18 and old enough to make that decision for yourself. When you're 18 years old if you still want the tattoo then get it. (I don't like needles either) But I think you have the wrong idea.....tattoo needles are tiny and its not like getting a shot at all...
hope this helps you

I gotta warn you, I got a tattoo on my lower back and I am tolerant of pain and it hurt like crazy. I had no idea how bad it was going to hurt. My friend got a tattoo on her ankle at the same time I got mine and she was screaming in pain too. I think it's the outline that really hurts, the color isn't so bad.

No, getting a tattoo right above you ankle does'nt hurt. Like most tatttos, you may feel a little discomfort but, it's not to the point that you think that your foot's being amputated. I have a tat on my left breast, now that hurt !!!! it's like having someone carve their name in your skin with a fingernail file. ouch!!!
One of my best friends has a tat in the same place that you're curious about.......she did it without even flinching. I think you should go for it........if you have'nt already.

Its like taking a needle and stabbing it hundreds of times at your skin leaving the open wound with ink soaking into your skin..
What do you think..
I have a few and they didn't make me cry but it depends on ur pain tolerance and if you dont like needles it isn't going to help your situation.
Your 15 try temperary first

One of the MOST painful...like... stick a needle real hard in the top of your finger over and over real hard...that's not even close to the pain> don't be stupid.... stop watching" Miami ink".
