It doesnt really matter what the wind chill or temperature during the day has to be to have a closing.

What matters is what the temperature is in the morning during the time the students go to school.

I go to Dublin schools so last week was a good example of the morning temperatures causing school closings. I also called the Dublin district office and found that out so my hunch was confirmed.

Take a look at the hourly forecast of your area and look at what the predicted temperatures are supposed to be during the time your school starts. That is the main factor if the school closes for 'inclement weather,' as Dublin schools calls it.

The decision to close a school district is made individually for each school district. Some schools have more walking students, and they take low temperature more into account than schools who pick up bus riders door to door.
There is no set number that will close a district. In my area the first sub zero weather closed the schools, but not subsequent sub-zero days.
