it's based on time in rank/service and if there is an opening in the higher slot you should get promoted upon reporting to your active duty station

As I recall, E-1 to E-2 was almost automatic after 6 or 12 months as long as you have a clean record... I went to E-3 on Basic graduation.

Enlisted Advancement for the Navy is all Time in Rate, Test Scores, Awards, and Evaluations. The Time-in-Rate differed for each advancement... I recall E-5 to E-6 was 24 months minimum.

Helicopters eh ? Always check the BIFILAR on the H-60 !!

promotions come down on a roster, these rosters will either provide a 'waiver' to select a he/she to advance faster, or it's simple 'time in grade-time in service' and it becomes automatic. Your an E-1, E-2 is uasually within a 6-8 month window and lot's of waivers for early promotions. Your issue will be that your in a small fld (compared to the infantry) and promotions up to E-4 are automatic. E-5 to E-6 could be a much different story. I would recommend you take your transcipts, enroll in a college or local community school, this will help get you point for the board to be promoted. good luck.

Should be E2 now and when you get to your
permanent duty station, should be promoted to E3 and from there depending on how hard you
work and how many military schools you
attend will determine the rest of your rank status. Try to take a couple of college courses
because that will increase your chance of promotion. Good Luck!!

promotion to E-2 is waiverable at 4 months, and automatic at 6 months.

It depends on your MOS & what branch you are in. In the Marine Corps it is alot harder to gain rank!
