it wasn't genocide..... it was justice..... the Amalekites were child killing, pagan people who commited genocide from nation to nation. This was wiping out this murderous nation from contaminating the rest of the world and because Saul disobeyed look what happened. The pregnant queen survived and down the line produced Haman who almost put an end to the Jewish nation.

The Amalekites first started warring against the Israelites (Exodus 17:8-16).The Amalekites attacked the weakest and feeblest of the Israelites (Deuteronomy 25:17-19) and those who could not keep up.The Amalekites were also a very brutal people, and one of them let his servant die out in the desert (2 Samuel 30:11-13).An Amalekite had also murdered King Saul (2 Samuel 1:1-16).The Amalekites were a cruel, brutal nation, trying their very hardest to destroy the Israelites. The Israelites only choice was to wipe the group out, otherwise they would never have survived.

Because the Amalekites were a horrible people who sacrificed their babies in the fire to false idols, and, when attacking the Israelites, would put their own women and children in the front lines to act as a "buffer" to protect the soldiers, in a most cowardly fashion, forcing the Israelites to cut through the women and children to get to the men. These people were so reprobate that even their children were corrupted. God knew that if the Israelites kept any alive, they would just grow up to take revenge on them. So God did them a favor by wiping them out.
