this is kinda silly, is it really not okay to use the word "fetch" when you're referring to a person? like i "fetched" my sister from school today. I have a friend who's super anal about the use of words and she kept on doing this even if we're just talking about random stuffs.

Dogs fetch. People pick up. It's pretty demeaning to say a person fetches something.

I don't see anything demeaning about using the word "fetched" rather than caying "picked up." After all, "picking someone up," especially a girl, could have other connotations, just as "fetch" can have other connotations. Tell the grammar police that you have a get out of jail free card on this one.

I've heard fetch in the south a lot. It may be a southern thing, at least in the USA

It's grammatically fine, but not very common in the US. More of a British thing, I think.
