If you knock out a few of your teeth before your wisdom teeth come in, then you will have room for them.
In the past, medicine and dentistry were not as advanced as they are today. I'm sure a lot more people had missing teeth by the time they reached adulthood. That means that the wisdom teeth would not have been a problem for them.

Evolution created the wisdom tooth.
For reasons I don't know, the human jaw has been gradually becoming shorter, but natural selection has yet to reduce the number of teeth to accommodate this. "In the wild" most humans would have lost a number of teeth by the age of 18, and the wisdom teeth simply pushed the remaining teeth together to close the gaps. With modern dentistry this doesn't happen.

No, but they were more useful to our ancestors before modern times...they did not suffer. We only suffer as our jaw is now smaller then before so we don't always have a comfortable fit for them...

No - many many many years ago we USED our wisdom teeth. The mouth was much larger and they grew in correctly. This is going to sound stupid but take a GOOD LOOK at the Geico commercials and the caveman mouth but it's true.
