Hm. I'd typically say...

-- They want to feel secure, with someone they already know.
-- Have grown attached to that emotional abuse, feeling they deserve it
-- Are madly, insanely in love with them, to the point that they'd give them as many chances as possible. Included in this is belief that they are 'the one', or their 'soulmate'
-- Trust, in the person, that they will be honest from that point forward
-- Possible cosmetics; someone who is popular, or physically attractive, and possibly for money.
-- Another reason they may do it is to try and get even. Maybe cheat on them, or make their life a living hell. Syphon their money, cause problems for their job, or with their friends/family...
-- Decision to be in an 'open' relationship

There's quite a few reasons one may, actually...

Sometimes they believe it was just a very bad lapse in judgement and they have invested so much time they want to give them another chance. Some feel they may have caused the cheating because they believe the crap they are told. Some really do just not want to be alone.

because people always tend to try and see the best in everyone... when someone cheats, the other thinks...."well it wont happen again" && they get back together... there might also be something to do with they think they are in "love"

My friend tends to be forgetful about such actions and falls for the whole candy/chocolate/stuffed animal thing...She seems to disregard that important fact.
Stupid really.

To forgive is divine? If someone wants another chance to try & grow up, would you say, "Nope, there's no hope for you. Stay the way you are, you blew it & there's no chances for you."

becasue they are weak... many people are.. there are so many people who" cant be alone", i think thats because they dont really like themselves.. it takes a strong person to like themsselves and be single..
