First go to a pet store and pick out a book pertaining to that breed. That have most of them available. Familiarize yourself with the breed.
Not sure how young the puppy will be, so prepare your house. (Puppy Proof) (Get anything small off the floors, cords, etc. Its just like having a baby so good luck)
Decide now if you will crate train or puppy pad train.
Right before you get your puppy, have a vet already picked out. Some vets aren't accepting new patients so its good to have one already lined up for his/her first shots

Pick out where your puppy will sleep. Get him/her a bed, etc
Dog dishes and toys are an added plus. Puppies love to chew so the more variety the better. Other wise household items will be first on its list! I've learned from experience.

Good luck and congrats on your new puppy. Cavalier King Charle puppies are so beautiful. I had a cocker spaniel puppy growing up and they are a pleasure.

Buy a crate.
Buy lots of chew toys.
Buy the dog it's own bed.
Talk to your vet or contact the breeder and find good sources for learning as much as you can about this breed of dog. Knowledge is power!

Good for you for wanting to know as much as you can! Definitely go to the link in my source list and take ALL of the Puppy University tutorial courses. They only take a few minutes each, and are very informative.

Lots of good answers up there, just want to add, with this breed, you will have to pay special attention to ear care, regular ear washes to prevent infections,. the "floppy" ears hold moisture in there. There are lots of products, I use Epiotic. You are going to be a great doggie mom

Simple.... take your dog to obedience classes and learn how to interact effectively with the dog.
