Test the waters...
You should be able to get him alone and try doing stuff that a bff wouldn't do... like caress him or if you really are feeling bold, land him a quick kiss. You might be surprised how well that works. You will have no regrets about it if you try and it doesn't work out. At least you know then...

Best wishes...

As wonderful as it might seem to date this guy you're so fond of, I wouldn't advise it. The reality of a lot of relationships is that they're going to fail eventually and being friends after breaking up can be hard. I would advise you to look elsewhere because boyfriends come and go but friends are forever,

Can't see how you'd seem desperate. It's very simple, just get it together and ask him out. But, please, don't do it on the internet or through a friend, if you do it that way - it's already a sign that the relationship won't last too long. You need to communicate in person.

It's not desperate to ask him out, it's bold and courageous. If you like him, try it. Since he tells you you are pretty and strongly asserts that he has no feelings for your other friend, I'd assume he is interested but just afraid to make the first move.

So go for it!

The strongest relationships come frim the strongest friendships. Let him know you think that it's time to take the friendship up a level.

Just be patient. The more you get to know eachother as freinds the easier and better it will be. And you always wait for a guy to go after you.

ask yourself what is more important to you. his friendship or his love? imagine if u broke up, you would also lose his friendship. maybe ask him to a dance as friends. "friends"
