I compare them in detail and with othwer pistols in the book I wrote about "CHOOSING A COMBAT PISTOL". Fist, I look at size and balance. The rwo are nearly identical and outstanding here. In power, they are the same, for they use the same 9mm Parabellum shell from similar barrels. The CZ75 is much more accurate with its internal slide rails. Spare parts are much more eadily available for the Browning the most widely-used combat pistol of the 20th Century. In Single-Action Quick Draw, the Brwoing needs a larger custom safety installed as mine has. IN Double-Action Quick Draw, the CZ75 is the best of all with its superb balance and smooth trigger. In Bullet Selection, my CZ75 beats the Browning by a big margin. My HiPower needed the ed ramp polished and the chamber throated in order to function with hollowpoints, and I must clean that ramp every 200 shots or so to prevent jamming again. My CZ75 even functionsw perfaectly wioth the old Glaser faltnoses that jam any pistoil except my CZ75 and my Beretta 92F. As you see the CZ75 wins easily in judging Reliability. Neither gun is so good for southpaws. Get a Beretta if you are one. In firepower, tyhe CZ-75 magazine holds 2 rounds more than the browning's, but I have a 21 rounfd mag for mu GP_35.ison and see which factors are mosr important to you. For mu use, the CZ-75 has a goos lead. Ony the beretta 92F beats it overall and the CZ-75 outscores it for accuracy and quick draw.

Browning Hi Power Accuracy

Excellent information here. I would just add that the CZ-75 can be carried in either SA or DA. Whereas most DA guns' safeties act as a decocker and safety, the CZ-75's safety will lock the gun while ******. A nifty option for those who prefer ****** and locked carry.

The Browning has quite an edge over the CZ. It's the original and most are double action with single actions a more modern and lawyer friendly type to prevent lawsuits. Fit, finish, and better steels are FN Browning pluses. The CZ is a good pistol in it's own right, but is just a copy of an arguably superior design.
The Browning Hi-Power is a refined and improved redesign of the U.S. 1911 & 1911A1 .45ACP military pistol.

Nothing new to add really. I agree that the Hi-Power has some class and nostolgia, but the CZ-75 soviet workhourse is functionally an improvement and will outpreform it. CZ will probably be cheaper too.

Wow that's a good comparison as I'm a big fan of both.
Actually, it's not a fair comparison because the CZ75 is actually a "Iron Curtain" knockoff of the Hi Power design, albeit it's a Double-action knockoff whereas the Browning is Single action.
That said, both are inherently accurate pistols, serious substance and manufacturing quality and wonderful to hold and shoot.
I'd give a nod to the hi Power because I like the single action, but it's a very slight preference and almost negligible. Either would be a great sidearm that will last longer than either of us wil.....

The BHP wins the glamour/cool factor award but has a lousy trigger due to the magazine safety. Sure, you can modify it, but who wants the hassle. The CZ has superior accuracy by far. It may not be pretty, but it has the improved "slide-in-frame" design and a better trigger in SA mode. CZ-75s and 1911s rule the steel-frame action pistol circuit. BHPs are lighter (@ 35oz) to the CZ (@40oz) or Colt(@40oz). BHP guns are also somewhat sensitive to hot 9mm. I have experience in this area. This is why Israel had FN make a large lot of BHP guns for the Israeli army that had beefed up slides. I like the BHP, but as a civilian I would shoot mild ammo out of it to respect the gun more so then if I had my old CZ-75 back. The verdict? For target/combat shooting: CZ
For everything else:FN-Browning

classic appeal=BHP
finish/metalwork=BHP
collectabilty/historical relevance=BHP
slide takedown ease=BHP (CZ-75B has pinned in firing pin)
accuracy=CZ-75
weight (felt-recoil effects)=CZ-75
trigger quality=CZ-75
durablility=CZ-75
