In your opinion, what makes someone a religious person? In what way must they behave or believe that would make you think they are religious? If you yourself a religious person, what is it about yourself that makes you consider yourself as such?

Feel free to state your religious affiliation if you so choose.

To me, what makes someone religious is following the tenets of a religion, which is a sociological construct of beliefs, liturgy, Deity concepts, theology, and practices. If you can point at something and say, "We (name)s believe this" or "We (name)s do (activity) at (occasion)" it's probably a religion. In my opinion religion is a function of group synthesis.

I have no expectation of someone religious, except that they follow the tenets of their religion in order to be counted among its members. I hold myself to this standard as well.

Spirituality, which is the personal quest for connection with the Divine, can occur within the context of a religion or without any religion at all.

What others think of me varies naturally.
Some believe that I am a wimp, I do not stand up for myself.
Others believe that I am to be respected, because I can let just about anything roll off me without getting me upset.

So you see, it depends on where a person comes from.
I had a wife that left me because she thought I had no backbone, and that she had to step in and be the man of the house. In my pre-religion days, I was an in-charge person. I believed if we were one, that we should always act as one, and I was the one given the authority to determine what we did. Once I understood religion she believed that I had given up my principles.

After she left me I met another woman that sees me as loving, tender, caring, and yet sometimes forceful and resourceful.
I lead our household, not with a rod of iron, but peaceably.

Before we married I made sure that she felt the same about the Lord as I do, and that she depended upon him with every breath.

I am an ordained minister, I am retired, and the wife and I live alone. We both have kids from a former marriage, and we talk to them weekly.

I pick up my great-granddaughter every Sunday and take her to Sunday School while we are in Sunday School and church.

We both love the Lord, and we love each other.

We are those terrible people that take the Bible literally unless it says otherwise.

We belong to a large Baptist Church, but the people are great, and the sermons are fantastic.

A person chooses to be religious based on what they believe, or on what they have been convinced of. No matter what you believe, it takes faith. It takes faith to believe in a God you cannot see, but it takes just as much faith to believe there is no God, especially in view of an immensely vast and complex universe. This universe contains intelligent beings (us). Where did intelligence come from? The iPod had an intelligent designer--human beings. Can our intelligence itself logically have sprung from non-intelligence?

I am not religious, in the traditional sense of the word. Instead, I am a Christian. Religion is man's way of reaching out to God; God made in man's image, so to speak. Jesus is God's way of reaching out to man! True Christianity is a relationship with a wonderful, loving Father.

I am a Christian, but hate the word religious.

There are alot of people out there that are "religious" but dont actually believe what they say they do.

If your asking what makes someone a Christian,
the belief in Jesus Christ, and learning what He says, and then trusting in that

.

I think it is a "God" oriented point of view about everything (ie.: the nature of "truth," strong belief about the revelation of God and His will for humanity in general, and that person, in particular, belief that God is acting in human history, veneration of sacred text, etc.) as well as piety (observation of religious ritual/custom), regular attendance at religious ceremonies, consistently treating people according to the tenets of one's belief system.

God gives us a choice to follow Him or to follow Satan.
I chose to follow Jesus, got saved and have been a Christian for many years now..
What made me religious? I discovered God in church and it was the best discovery I have ever had.. I wanted to live forever in Heaven when I die, I wanted the assurance of Gods love for ME, I wanted to do HIS Will each day and live by the Ten Commandments, I wanted to serve Him each and every day and to rely on Him for every aspect of my life.
He guides me, comforts me, assures me I will live with Him in Paradise, He is my best friend, my Savior, my confidance, He is every breath I take and every beat of my heart...
He gives me knowlege and wisdon when I read His Word. He dries my tears, mends a broken heart and He gives me the gift of helping others each and every day....
How should a Christian behave? To be 'in' the world but not 'of' the world. We have to separate ourselves from the world and of worldly things that are not of God....
