I think you've making a good point here. No one should be a one issue voter. I'm not the world's biggest Bush fan, but he did appoint conservatives to the Supreme Court, which is the best chance that Christians have for repealing the right to an abortion. Still, I don't think either candidate was a good option. I like the way that South Park puts it: Is it really an election if we have to choose between a giant douche and a turd sandwitch?

First of all I am Catholic and all Catholics are Christians. I voted for Kerry. I think Bush is horribly anti-life and not honest. Texas had many executions during his time as governor and maybe not all of these people were innocent like unborn children, but the death penalty is not pro-life. Neither is falsifying intelligence to provoke an unjust war of aggression. Many Iraqis and Americans have died as a result and America is not safer. Many countries now do not trust or even like us after that. Iraq is not more free because constant fighting is not what I define as freedom. Bush did nothing I see as pro-life. I think he did a lot that is anti-life.

First of all you make it seem that Catholics and Christians are two different groups. Catholics are Christians just as Methodists, Baptists, etc. Your question should have started with " Catholics and Protestants who voted, etc".
Next, no candidate has ever been pro-abortion. That would mean that he believed that all babies should be aborted. The correct term is "pro-choice".
A political platform consists of many dozens of separate items. Whether he did anything about pro-life probably got lost in the mess the world is in.

Abortion is quickly replacing Social Security as the political third rail. Neither political party and no major politician is doing much of anything to end legalized abortion.
In the US the majority rules. At times a huge majority is needed to change the Constitution, but the majority still rules. The majority of the voters want abortion legal, even if he or she does not exactly like the idea.
To answer your question - I did not see much of a difference between Bush and Kerry's stance on abortion. The abortion issue was not a deciding factor for me.

Bush hasn't done anything to suppot his Pro-life agenda? Have you not been following the membership of the Supreme Court for the past several years??? Stacking the S.C. is the only way a president CAN have any impact on the abortion debate at this point.
However, I didn't vote for GWB in the past election and it had nothing to do with abortion. It had everything to do with the debacle in Iraq though....

(in the previous you get too disenchanted and protective, keep in mind that i did not say that i'm or am no longer a Christian. i imagine for myself, and that i'm only showing you a perspective that could no longer like your human being.) I easily have continuously heard human beings say that Christians are hypocrites. i have self assurance that that's extremely hypocritical of human beings to make such an ignorant generalization. Why are they hypocrites? because they're human and make blunders like all and sundry else? Hypocrite - someone who professes beliefs and reviews that he does no longer carry; dissembler, phony, pretender Christians profess that they are sinners; they do no longer profess that they are proper. something else isn't in holding with Christianity, so a real Christian won't be able to be a hypocrite. no matter if Hitler replaced into or replaced into no longer a Christian is between him and God. Who stated that "homicide" is incorrect and "killing" is okay? by technique of how, they advise an identical ingredient, so i'm no longer particular what massive distinction you've been attempting to make. yet you're top. A Christian might want to be a killer and a liar. although, a Christian is often forgiven. it might want to be hypocritical for a Christian to have self assurance that because their personal sins are few and minor in nature, they're more desirable sensible or deserve forgiveness more desirable than someone whose sins are many and severe in nature. I easily have talked about that those who're continuously accusing others of hypocrisy are frequently unaware of the hypocrisy of their personal lives. only to allow you to recognize, the icon of Christianity is Jesus and not in any respect George W. Bush.

Didn't vote for him ...either time.
How could he be "Pro-Life" if he supported the partial birth abortion for the "stem cell research?". Bush that is!!!
I voted for Kerry and I voted for Gore. Not because they were Democrats; but because I was not going to vote for Bush... he was once my governor, who had a record of failure in almost every category. Texas was ranked 50 out of 50... so with this kind of record, why would any one with a brain vote for this man to run the country when in fact he couldn't even run a State???????

I DO consider myself to be a 1-issue voter, and that issue IS abortion. I believe that it is the murdering of an unborn child, and would never vote for a pro-choice candidate for ANY office, at any time.
However, if there were 2 anti-abortion candidates running for an office, I would then scrutinize their positions on other issues, and the one who was closest to me on the other important issues, would get my vote.

Personally, I think abortion is a personal or religious matter it should not involve politics.
While I am personally against obortion, democratic governments should have no ritght to tell a woman what to do with her body.

I'm not answering this question, but I think it was wrong for you to tell that kid the answers to his test online. Thats cheating, and he should learn to answer his homework on his own.
