********* 1 cor. 2:2 (niv) 2For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified." **********

I often run into folk here asking questions that they already know the answer to. But these people don't just ask to enlighten others, or to just share the gospels, but to "Show-off" there knowledge. This scripture comes to mind(see above). Knowledge is good, but we should be humble with it.
Teaching others is great but I have seen some " Look what I know and you don't" attitudes that don't really allow for a positive experiance here. Why is this?
We should be able to teach others about the LORD ((as our focus)) and not teach others that we are better than everyone else because we know more!! All glory to GOD....NONE for us.

Your thoughts??

AMEN AND AMEN! Self righteousness is ugly. We are to speak the truth in love--and as Proverbs 15:1 says "A gentle answer turns away wrath but a harsh word stirs up anger"

We can share the gospel for exactly what it is, without sugar coating it or taking away from it, IN LOVE....there is an awesome way to present the gospel to others!
John 7:18
He who speaks on his own does so to gain honor for himself, but he who works for the honor of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.

Sadly many counted among our rank have some combination of a few problems.
1) ignorance of the Bible
2) A knowledge of the word without knowing the spirit of the word
3) some level of insecurity
Because many only know small limited sections of scripture without a knowledge of its spirit or context, some feel a need to show off what little they know and look for validation. The problem with their logic is that any one who is more well versed and aware of the spirit of the word can spot them in their ignorance.

I completely agree with your point, and it saddens me that so many among our ranks are even less mature than I am, and thus very few can really teach properly.

self-richousness is a hard thing to see in yourself and people should be encouraged to always humble themselfs. Like i like to say the best teachers are learners.

I agree, it;s because some people feel insecure and feel the need to cause controversy as they receive little or no attention in their real lives, and feel unable to express their views in real life. It's quite sad really....others are generally stupid and ignorant.

AMEN familyman. I think that you are so right. When I came across people like that I like to remind them that the Devil can resent the bible.
