I do have the 1967 Better Homes and Gardens, complete with notes and memos in the margins, from mom in law as a bridal shower present.
I also have a Boston School of Cooking Cookbook, ca 1910.
You all are giving me some great books to look at! Thanks so much, I will be looking them all up. My library grows happy.

I have quite a number of cookbooks. Professional ones though. One of my favorites though is Eggs by Michel Roux. His recipes are so simple, yet so elegant. Also, The Sauce Bible. Gotta have that. and The Cake Bible. The Silver Spoon. It's Basically the Encyclopedia of Italian Cookery. I have The French Laundry Cookbook, and The Latest El Bulli Cookbook. They're very expensive though. And I'm big on Bourdain's Les Halles Cookbook. Classic French Bistro, Which is what I cook on a daily basis.

My favorite new one is: Being Dead is No Excuse. It's recipes that Southerners bring to mourners. Wonderful food! Lately, I've also gotten quite a few wonderful recipes from: The Kitchen Witch's Cookbook.
My all time favorites...dog-earred beyond belief are a complete collection of all the "Frugal Gourmet" cookbooks, by Jeff Smith and a very old and food stained copy of The Mama Leone Cookbook. They are all just brilliant! Mama Leone's restaurant was one of the top NY restaurants in it's day and EVERY recipe is a gem.

I love the Edmond's Cookbook. It is a NZ book and many people here grew up with our mothers and grandmothers baking and making recipes from it, really good comfort food and cakes, biscuits etc. and the recipes are fool proof, it's wonderful. I'm sure you could buy it on line. As a chef my fave cookbook is still the French Laundry. Wow, it's like food porn to me! Amazing pictures and the recipes work if you have the time and right ingredients.
I just found a copy of the Edmond's online if you are interested.http://www.nzetc.org/tm/scholarly/tei-EdmCook.html

Southern Cooking by Henrietta Dull. The recipes still stand to this day but best of all is the glimpse into life at the time the book was written - 1928. I also like Better Homes and Gardens Cook Book - the one with the red and white checkered cover. I have had it for years - at least 30 and still use it.
A more contemporary cook book in my kitchen is Deborah Madison's Vegetarian Cooking For Everyone.

My favorites are Taste of Memories, one that I created with family recipes passed down for years. The other is Pirate's Pantry, put out by the Junior League of Lake Charles, LA. This one even tells how to cook rice and make a roux. It aslo tells how to clean fish and game. Lots of seafood recipes, too. I like to give this one as a bridal shower gift.
