The NASCAR rules are so numerous and stringent that everyone pushes the envelope to try and get an edge. It is just like any other sport with the steroids, supplements, speed, etc. that athletes take to try and get an edge. The cars that were busted weren't any different than anybody else except they made a mistake and pushed a little too far. There is a fine line in any sport between competing hard and cheating. In NASCAR, part of competing hard is preparing the car to be the best it can be. That usually means pushing the envelope on the rules. Don't act all disgusted just because some teams pushed it a bit too far.

No it is not too sever,The cheating is out of hand and an example needs to be made and the severity of this incident
needs to be made.
the suspention of 2 of the team members is not too sever the fines and loss of points are bad but a slap on the wrist.
The driver should have been suspended too.

Eventually it had to get that severe. Especially the fact that this violation was extremely abnormal.
NASCAR apparently has listened to fans who said that the earlier penalties were too weak, so this is the result.

YES, IT IS because they all cheat and Nascar always makes drama at the Daytona 500.I'm tired of it.They picked on Evernham for first offenses. This is all BS!

as owner operator i think he himself should be suspended.he knew what was going on there,he prob approved it to be put in there.

of course the caree he has had i am surprised it took this long for him to cheat to get better.

suspend him and send a message to all the other owners in nascar.

Hmm, too severe? Well, it was jet fuel... but i think that it was too severe. I think that a 50 point reduction would have been plenty.
