Most people, and PARTICULARLY deeply religious people do NOT want things to change. They are utterly mired and devoted to the past. They feel secure believing that all the answers have already been written and that there is no new thing to learn. New things frighten them. Those who are idealistic, wise, open-minded and perceptive will admire you for being different and questioning, but you will antagonize all the closed-minded and ignorant.

did jesus question and go against the grain to follow his heart.?
Jesus did NEITHER!! Jesus did exactly what His Father, GOD told Him to do. Jesus had no other choice, no free will in the matter of His life OR death. AND therefore, the Jews aren't responsible for Jesus's death... nor is Pontius Pilate... nor the Sanhedrin.. not the priests nor the Scribes. This was God's show.

if you compare yourself with Jesus look again. Jesus did not question what was written. He lived by it.
His beef was with those who made up their own religion that suited them.
the new testiment itself is the better covenant that replaces the old one. God has already made the improvements from the past. so the room for growth is in following closely and practicing what has been given to us until we resemble Jesus.

The reason why Jesus is exalted above everyone else is because He always does the will of His Father.

I don't think Jesus needed to question anything. He knew everything anyway!
