Hi
The best way to learn about breeding responsibly is to have an experienced breeder as a mentor - usually the breeder of one of your dogs. You need to be aware that Chis are notoriously hard to breed & carries more risks than many breeds.
An excellent site for asking questions is:

Lots of experienced breeders on there.

If you show Chihuahuas I'm amazed that, after 10 years you seem to have gleaned little in the way of experience. You should be using bitches at the high end of the weight guide, and the tiniest dog possible. When you see people advertising Chihuahua pups bred out of 3-4lbs bitches, interpret this as puppy farmer, backyard breeder, dealer or liar. Anyone breeding from a ***** that small should be incarcerated. Using a ***** with a decent pelvis will encourage self whelping, which all breeders should be aiming for.

not the best breed to leave to breed from, very hard, lots of research to do first. Is mum from self whelping stock? Is the stud dog the same size of mum? It is so hard to to learn everything, you need to home all the time when she is due to have them and sleep with her, the first 3 days when pups are born you need to stay with her, and depending how she is mangering it may be longer. Can i ask are you breeding your chihuahua for pup's to sell or to keep? You can have very large vet bills, lots of chihuahuas, need a c- section will will be around £500, an ultra sound is about £50, let alone the worming treatment, flee treatment, puppy food. etc.
Its not something to start straight away. Sorry if sound like i am putting you off, but, owning a chi is different to breeding them, obviously if you want pups to show you need mum and dad kc reg, in which case you need a mum who has kc papers with out endorsements. Good luck.

U have 2 be very carefull when breeding chihuahuas because where they are so tiny they have difficulty giving birth. U have to make sure the father is roughly the same size as the mother 2 produce puppys small enough for the mother to be able to carry. Just be carefull!!

They are so little that the mom's have a hard time delivering. Hopefully you have some vet experience. It was hard for us when our Chihuahua gave birth...the babies are so small and she just didn't want anything to do with the two babies. We had to be there all the time to feed them because she just didn't want to take care of them. I didn't go to work for two weeks. It was very hard. If you don't have to leave your house for work then you are in luck. If you don't have someone to help you will get worn out. They are a great dog don't get me wrong... but a lot of work.

I;vie being showing boxers for about 10 years and I find if you have a good knowledge of the breed and are willing to take responsibility for the litter and are willing to take back any puppy that you breed then you wont go far wrong; also if you make any money your doing it wrong.
