my mom's a doctor, and she said that patches, support groups (why i don't know) and a new medicine called chantix all really work well and have good success. also, buproprion (welbutrin) has helped people quit smoking. i think it's sold under a different brand name for smoking cessation, but it's the same generic drug.

Just throw them out and don't buy more.
I quit on the 1st. I was a menthol smoker. I used Hall's cough drops for the first couple of weeks, now I'm not using anything. I'm still going strong. You just have to make up your mind to do it and then forget about smoking. Just put it out of your head. Keep as busy as possible till the cravings go away. It's a good time to start home projects like cleaning out the garage or painting rooms or something. Good Luck!

Will power, I went from 3 packs a day to nothing, cold turkey. I had no nicotine gums or patches to help me. After the third day, the physical addiction is gone, then it's all mental.

CONGRATS TO ALL OF US EX-SMOKERS!!! Smoking is a 99% mental addicting habit. You only think that you need a cigarette. Dont quit unless your doing it 4 yourself and not because everyone tells you to.
