I heard this riddle and it goes like this:
A man is standing on train tracks. He sees a train coming, and he goes towards it to avoid getting hit. What the hell?! Please help!! This has been on my mind for ages!!! I don't know the answer

One possibility....
He's walking along train tracks, and has just gone inside a long tunnel. He looks back and sees a train on the way...but he still has time to run back to the entrance and get off the tracks before the train gets there. So he runs toward the train, and gets off the tracks safely before the train gets there. (Because he knew that if he runs AWAY from the train [i.e. further INTO the tunnel] the train will hit him.)

Perhaps it is coming around a curve. He is on the tracks. The train has not completed the curve. He walks towards where it actually is and off the tracks.

I agree with David. He was in a tunnel and the train was coming in so he ran out of the tunnel which made him run toward the train.
