I believe because my heart and my mind were opened to the love and mercy of the one true God, and the salvation of my eternal soul thru His Son, Jesus.

There's no real reason to think there are any gods. However, there are many reasons to believe that gods are just man-made superstitions. You only have to look at the history of the various religions to see that. Also, human psychology studies show how people are prone to make up such things as gods.

first of all u have to know that not every thing we can't see doesn't exist.
i never saw u but i know that u exist b/c u wrote this question.
i can't see my brain but i know that i have one b/c i can think.
i believe in GOD b/c i saw the world i saw the nature and how beautiful it is. this can't be made by it self. i read the Quran and i saw how the words were written. no human can write one sentence like the ones in the Quran.
and that's why i believe in GOD because i've seen things that no human can do.
also, if u haven't read the Quran u can see that of the most well known scientists you will find they believe in God.. such as Blaise Pascal, Robert Boyle, Isaac Newton, Louis Pasteur, Samuel Morse, Lord Kelvin, etc...
and that gotta mean something, right!

Have you specific proof outside the Bible that there is only one God. The God in the Bible is a God that is jealous of other Gods and states as much in the commandments that are written for the Hebrews in the Torah.

Why do I believe in God.
There are a lot of reasons, all of which are from personal encounters with God.
I started to attend a ladies group many years ago. My husband and I had moved into an new area with our new baby. I wanted to make new friends and was introduced to the wife of my husband's co-workder.
She invited me along and I simply went. I found what they discussed about God to be a bit confusing, but persevered for the social contact.
One day they had a lovely lady speaker come and speak about the curcifiction. I experienced something I had not experienced or heard of before. In fact I thought I was going nutty.
As this lady spoke of the crucifiction I suddenly could see, hear and feel the entire experience. No matter what was being said, the entire scene played like a movie, with me in the front row. I have to admit to being stunned and a bit concerned about my own sanity at the time.
After the meeting I found it hard to leave, but was too afraid to discuss what I had experienced. The Pastor's wife noted something was up and encouraged me to talk about it. I burst into tears and confessed what had unfolded during the meeting. She became excited, I became distressed. She finally explained to me that I had just had a one on one encounter with God and was invited to accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. I did and have not looked back.

I had a lot of problems at that time with my husband. I had two children by then and was pregnant again. I became depressed and could not find a way to cope with abuse that was occuring at the time. I planned to do something very drastic with my life and that of the children. As I hung washing and plotted my plan, the Lord spoke to me very clearly and precisely, giving me scriptures, which I did not know at the time, as I did not even own a bible. I only found them to be scriptures when I spoke to a friend. God very firmly convinced me that my plan was not his will and he talked me out of doing something very disasterous.

I have had many an encounter with the Lord on a personal level, too many to mention in one e-mail. I know in my heart of hearts that God not only exists, but he loves me, a person who no one would even know exists. But he knows me and loves me warts and all. My life has not been a bed of roses and continues to have it's many struggles. But I have seen the eventual salvation of my husband who is unrecognisable from the man who I once feared.
We have grown together as a couple, family and followers of God.
We know that no matter what occurs for us and our family, God is in control and has our best interests at heart. We have learned that we cannot always trust other people, as people make mistakes, but we can trust God in all things.
I hope this helps to answer your question.

I don't believe in god because I can tolerate uncertainty. I prefer unanswered questions to superstition.
