Yes, there will. The United Nations will not stop it, it won't even slow the war down; in all probability, the UN will have some part in causing the war. When the war is over, I can only hope it will be something like Fahrenheit 451, where a small group of people have preserved the past that it may be restored when the wackos have blown each other to atoms. It's going to take a few years to get started (my guess is no more than another century), but even if organized civilization is wiped out of existence, the world will be better off in the aftermath.

what do you mean, will there ever be a world war 3, there is and you're in it, just because some of the fighting is not carried out by a recognised state doesn't mean to say it isn't war, the question should be how long will world war 3 go on for?

If there were it wouldn't be a war in the same sense as the last two world wars. I think there are so many things that hugely influence the way wars are fought that didn't before. The 24 hour news coverage and massive political influence of a few countries make it different too.
If there is it will probably be fought mostly with missiles and air power. Hopefully no one will use a nuclear bomb. If anyone does we can all kiss each other goodbye.

We're in it.
Twin Towers
London suicide bombers
Madrid
Iraq & the middle east.
There are key elements / issues that run through these events, which will sadly grow & spread.
Its not a traditional war with full land invasion and I'm sure that people will not want to class it as a World War. However, the world had become a much more dangerous place and I fear that the way it will develop will be EXTREME muslims vrs democracy / Christians.

Cannot see it myself! All the major countries are tied up with each other economically. There is however the odd maverick nation, like Iran and North Korea, which could spark a war, which could then escalate! Like one of the answers before this said, if there is a www3, then it will be followed by www4, but with spears and bows and arrows!

Yes - unfortunately history will repeat it's self - only with different players, some will change places in power and want to influence the powers (nations) that does not agree with their values. It's the either your with me or against me mentality. We can cope for a while - but like what happen in Japan (atomic bomb) the resulting environmental damage will eventually effect everyone & everything.

Oh yea it's coming the world population is increasing at an alarming rate and never has tensions ever been so high and we now have more nuclear powers than before you can count on it. I think we will prevail for sure because we are the leading superpower.

No, I don't think there will be WWIII. With the Cuban missile crisis we came near and, I suspect, a similar situation may happen again. Stout hearts over stupid brains will prevail. IF there ever was a WWIII, we wouldn't cope. We rely too much on technology now so that very few people would know how to survive without it.
