Why? It is in the past. You are letting the break up rule your life. Even if you think it only bothers you on Valentine's day.....you're wrong. You let it go by realizing YOUR part in the break up (it can't be all her fault...it's both) and fixing it. Don't get into another relationship until you are happy with yourself being alone. Another person cannot make you happy or relieve the pain from your past relationship.

Make it a point that every Valentine's Day, you offer your time at a shelter, hosiptal, or another charity. You will feel better by helping others. It will also keep your mind busy so you're not thinking about it. Remember, you're allowing this to control you. Just let go.

For me to advise on how to change a negative into a positive is for me a collosal jump in the right direction.
I too have downers so here we go....
If you have a certain date that causes a lot of pain then do something positive on or around this date.
Go on holiday
Go on a day trip to London or wherever. Do something that will occupy your mind.
Or better still go on a singles holiday around this date.
Hope it helps

Find something new to do on this day - visit a place you've never been before, take up a new hobby, volunteer at a homeless shelter... something that will do your spirit some good.

Try to maybe fall in love again on this day. Or at least do something fun like speed dating.
