Being 11 years-old, she should know about the birds and the bees by now - if for nothing less than educational purposes so she doesn't get hurt or hear the wrong info from "friends." That being said, I'd get a Playboy Magazine and go through it myself first to bookmark "appropriate/ideal" pictures, then show her what she is asking to wear and what that cute bunny symbolizes. If then she's aware and OK with it, then she should be comfortable enough to wear and use the bag accurately knowing what she's advertising. Would you do the same for her if she wanted a bag with a swastika on it?
Be thankful she's not asking for a HUSTLER bag; at least Playboy is "tasteful."

I think it's unsuitable for such a young girl.Kids like to dress and look older than they are these days.Compromise, get her something like a Playboy pencil case that will go inside her bag, and not draw attention from unsavoury people. My guess is that your daughter doesn't fully realise the story behind the Playboy symbol.Maybe I'm an over protective mum, but I think your gut instinct tells you by getting her this bag, it would be a bad idea.Keep her safe, she'll grow up soon enough.

if i was a teacher and seen a 11 year old girl come in to school with a play Boy bag.i will be honest with you as I'm sure that's what you are looking for a honest answer.i would think what is her family like and what are they doing sending her to school with a bag that really is about woman that show off there body's in a inappropriate way..i think that some of her school mates have got ones and i bet the school will complain to there parent.why not say i don't want you having one so why don't we go on a shopping spre for a new bag. i bet she will like the idea and probably forgets about this bag. i would rather my daughter go to school with a bag for £40 maby a well known make rather then a playboy (really its a sex simble) .i hope this helps you with this problam

When I was 11....I thought it was awesome. Now being 22 years old with a daughter of my own (and another on the way).....11 years old is way to young for something that bears that symbol. I even look now at 12-13 year olds carrying the bags, wearing the shirts or earrings (or belly rings for that matter) and I am honestly disgusted. It's just not appropriate for that age. Also, she wants it for school? Most schools will not allow the symbol on anything. I know ours wouldn't, even in high school. Good Luck!

I'd be inclined to discuss it with her - she wont understand the connotations - its just a fashion image to her - unfortunately I don't think that lecherous old blokes who see young girls wearing these things would view it as just a fashion image. There are people out there who may misinterpret that image - they would be the ones with a problem - but people have to be on their guard - just like necklaces with names on, some items could court trouble. Talk to her and try and make her understand that you want her to be a strong independent woman and the first step to that is be able to question why she would want to follow a fashion when she can blaze her own trail. Maybe (if shes an eco type) talk to her of multinationals and exploitation.
Or perhaps take her out and buy her some magazines and help her design and make her own bag

I'm sure your daughter only likes the bag because of the bunny on it. She doesn't know the history behind playboy. Maybe finding her another bag with a bunny is a better idea.

I was worried about this thing with playboy at first. Didn't think it was appropriate for children, but it seems to just be a fashion thing, I don't think many of the youngsters really know what playboy is really about. Rule of thumb I have always used with my girls is "If I'm not comfortable with it then it's no" there is no right or wrong with kids so you have to follow your gut and hope for the best.

its a bit of fun - and as far as the connotations are concerned she hasn't a clue! and i doubt neither have any of her friends.
they r very fashionable - and thats all there is to it for her.
playboy is a brand name - your personal opinion maybe that this brand stands for something you do not wish your daughter to be associated with and as her mother you may feel you need to assert this. however... if you make a big deal out of a bag now - how far will she push you later!???
its tough being a mum - but you know what you are doing and you can trust your instincts.
hope this helps

Well, i understand playboy seems to carry a negative image. but for a lot of young girls, its just a image and they wouldn't think of the other side, its just a cute rabbit. In the end you have to do what you feel comfortable with.

I personally don't see the harm in you getting her a playboy bag, as long as she doesn't know what the Playboy magazine is! Kids these days like designer things and your daughter might like the Playboy bunny because its cute and pink.
You can pick up some really cute pink bags if you look around that are really cool and suitable for her if you are unsure remember your decision is final.
