Though prepaid credit cards resemble debit credit cards a lot, the two are vastly different. When you use debit cards for any purchase, your shopping will be automatically debited from your bank account. On other hand, the purchases made with prepaid cards are deducted from the balance present on the card.

The prepaid cards offer various benefits like:

Interest-free purchases

People with a bad credit history are eligible to apply for a credit card.

The credit limit varies according to the balance available on the card.

However you should still read the terms and conditions of the application form, since prepaid credit cards can charge:

Monthly subscription fee

An application fee

A shopping fee

You should be able to buy one where ever they are available. A prepaid credit card is not the same thing as a debit card, but is the same as cash. They are great for people who want to buy things on the internet but don't have or don't want to give out their regular CC numbers. As for specific sites that will or won't accept them, I can't tell you for sure.

Different cards load and reload differently. I can't give you any information about reloading because I don't know what Greendot is. The cards I used to sell in my store could be reloaded anytime as long as it didn't go over the limit. So if there is a $100 limit, you will probably have to wait until the first charge hits the card and then you can reload.

rather open a checking account. It keeps to be with you. A Visa pay as you go card won't enable you to create a credit history, which you will choose in some years. Having a monetary corporation account establishes a dating with your monetary corporation, and could in all probability help whilst it contains getting a credit card later. as quickly as the monetary corporation sees your are to blame with money, they'll in all probability enable you to get a credit card once you swap 18, and you will no longer might desire to prepay it the two! good success!
