Hand ... It depends on many different aspects of the situation: the crimes, whether you were merely detained, arrested, charged, or convicted. Your age will matter, too.

The needs of the military also play a role. In other words, when they have more recruits than they need, your record may need to be nearly perfect. On the other hand, if the military is in great need, they might take almost ANYone as long as they have two arms, two legs, and can pull a trigger. I'm exaggerating, of course, but I trust you get my point.

In fact, in the news recently, we learned that the Marines were cutting potential recruits a lot of slack and they were accepting people they'd normally have to reject.

Therefore, visit a recruiter and tell them the whole story. However, whatever you do, please don't waste your time trying to decide what to hide and what to tell. You should reveal everything and I'll explain why. See my link below to learn about the personal security investigative process used by the military departments. You should read the entire page; it's very informative. However, pay particular attention to the part that begins with, "I'm Tempted to Keep Quiet About Something In My Past."

Here's the point: The military's security people who are professional adjudicators, will decide which of your past crimes are important or not. If YOU try to make those kinds of judgments, you'll eventually be discovered. Sometimes the crime you committed is not considered serious enough to disqualify you, however, if you're caught lying about it, the lie will get you in worse trouble because this casts doubt upon your integrity and honesty. After your lie is discovered, they'll worry about what else you may be trying to hide about your past and your chances of getting a security clearance and any good jobs will be eliminated. Furthermore, you may even get kicked out. I'd rather have NO discharge than any discharge other than an honorable one. Getting one of the other types of discharges is like having to go through life with lead weights tied to your ankles.

Hand ... I was not trying to sound harsh toward you; I was just telling you like it is. In plain English, the military doesn't like liars. No, I know you haven't lied, but I'm just trying to give you a "heads-up" about this kind of thing.

Good luck, dude, and thanks for thinking about serving your country! All the best to you.

Get a No Cost Background Check Scan at https://bitly.im/aNEnM

Its a sensible way to start. The site allows you to do a no cost scan simply to find out if any sort of data is in existence. A smaller analysis is done without cost. To get a detailed report its a modest payment.

You may not realize how many good reasons there are to try and find out more about the people around you. After all, whether you're talking about new friends, employees, doctors, caretakers for elderly family members, or even significant others, you, as a citizen, have a right to know whether the people you surround yourself with are who they say they are. This goes double in any situation that involves your children, which not only includes teachers and babysitters, but also scout masters, little league coaches and others. Bottom line, if you want to find out more about someone, you should perform a background check.
