Alternative source meaning without plugging it into the wall? The obvious answer would be a battery, which some portable TVs do run off of, but I'm not really sure what you're asking. A TV is an electronic device, which means without being severely modified, it needs some source of electricity.

well potatos will give a jolt and run a crystal radio so start with that you can't change the electric factor only it's source. wind, water, solar and otherwise is just changing a source of power to another source of power chemical reaction is how your car battery works dams give much of power these days and coal is used still in many places but is phasing out all you really need is a mica piece some copper and magnets then a way to move the mica piece in a circle (this is the simple version it is a little more than that) below is a site I found a few seconds ago hope it helps

Basically you need energy to turn a turbine to make electricity. Alternative sources of energy (other than hydroelectric, like dams) are solar energy, geothermal energy (steam from underground powering a turbine), or the energy from ocean waves (theoretical at this point). Of course, you can also use gasoline to power a motor attached to a generator, like you do with your car every day. The Altamont Pass, near Sacramento, California, has hundreds of giant propeller bladed structures sitting on top of the hillsides which generate electricity from wind.

Tidal forces
Wind power
ocean wave energy (being constructed right now)
Hydroelectric power (dams)
solar power
nuclear energy
geothermal energy
but- the stationary bicycle is probably the best for the TV. Although- you really need to pedal hard to power even a small TV.

In many parts of CA they will buy your excess, but the rules vary by utility district. Some will pay if you provide more than you can use, others will only allow you to zero out the bill, while others will allow you to stay on the grid, and create all your own energy but won't let your meter run backwards. CA also offers great rebates for solar and in some areas wind, but that is also determined by utility.

"give me ways to replace electricity if you were running a TV"
There are no ways to do this - there are only alternate ways to produce the electricity to run a TV.
Wind, solar, tidal, geo-thermal, hydrogen fueled generators and fusion reactors would all be alternate sources for the energy needed to produce electricity.

Solar power, Bio gas (from wastes),.
You said College project, for this Bio gas technology will be a good study to utilize energy from wastes (using land cell technology i think) with out polluting the environment

I dont really understand your question. Gas, solar power, wind power. An electric generator that uses gasoline, also a big aparatus that could produce elctricity by you running such like the lamp that you shake and it turns on then if the power runs out you shake it again

A bicycle generator or a solar power unit would be good for something like a TV.

you could try looking into chemical reactions, water, wind, or heat. all of these can be used to turn motors, which can be turned into electrical energy and stored or used to run things like a television. Best I can do off the top of my head.
