Actually, the brain, without sentinent stimulus, will eventually fade to dillusion, both audio and visual, as time passes. This is not to be funny, even in a perfectly mentally healthy person, when the brain is deprived of stimulus for long periods of time, the same phenomena is observed. John was more likely going insane, as he wrote these letters, supposedely, while trapped on the island of patmos. Anyone who reads revelations critically, can easily see that they are most influenced by past religious idols and teachings, not of Christianity.
The early days of the religion were not easy for Christians. Any person would have loved the idea of retribution to those who were persecuting them. Aided by the mental decline of John, anything could have been portrayed through him mind.
This is why religious visions are very common in mental institutions. They are feeding off their past brain chemistry, but are unable to control their thoughts before are they portrayed.

That John guy as you call him listed drug abusers among those who were refused entrance in the Holy City: Revelation 21:8 "sorcerers" - the word is "pharmakeusin" from "pharmakos" , referring to drugs.
By the way, I wonder how many withces referred to over the centuries were simply drug pushers? That could explain the hatred people had for them. If they saw their children's and friends' minds being destroyed....

Revelation = Uncover (see uncover video for a laugh)

As for the book of Revelation, it's like a final exam,
and it wasn't written by John, but 'sent unto John'.

That's right, keep disbelieving. Satan loves that you know. He even knows his time is short and he's trying to trick/deceive as many as possible before Christ returns.

Speculation is that he wrote it while living alone in a cave. I'd go more for an herbal explanation. Can you say hashish?
