Machinery used to find the HLA antigen...?

I have an interview for medicine and in my personal statement i said that i saw the machinery used to find this genes which is true except i have forgotten the names of all the machinery and how to find the antigen, was wondering if anyone could help me, please i would be sooooooooooooooooooo x infinity grateful!!!!! xXx

this is just a guess, but since they're antigens, i'd imagine some kind of antigen tracing device, maybe using the FISH technique, probing for specific loci, since HLA's are located on chromosomes.
