Are you really asking a valid question, or are you just trying to defame people you don't know?
Evolution is a concept that comes from a worldview. A worldview is a composite of how everyone sees his world. It answers the big questions about life, like who am I? Where did I come from? What is my purpose? What's wrong with the world and how can it be fixed?
All worldviews have a theological position and are therefore "religious'. Remember there are nontheistic religions (Torcaso v. Watkins, 1961). That theological position answers the question, 'where did I come from'.
Christianity answers that theological question with God, an incidentally, most early scientists had that belief.
Evolution started at a time in history when people began to question everything including God. Darwin's idea was, "what if there was no God? Evolution starts with the presupposition that there is no God, and so is antithetical to Biblical Christianity.
The reason that Evolution is taught in schools is because that is the philosophy of the time. Some people confuse scientific practice which is the observation of the material world, with scientism which is a presuppositional position that there is no God and therefore science tells us everything. That whole idea has been dying since the 60's. Currently there is a growing number of scientists who are more interested in Intelligent Design. People who are afraid of this idea term it, veiled religion, however, as we have seen, anything that takes a theological position is religion. There are many people in the Intelligent Design movement who are not Christian nor are they particularly religious. They are just doing science, not scientism. In observing nature they see patterns, and design, and are not convinced that everything happened randomly. They see design everywhere. So the paradigm must change. You cannot consistently ignore reality and pretend it doesn't exist. So Christians get upset when another religious idea is prominent in government schools while those promoting it are yelling about "separation" of church and state. Just like the evolutionists, the Christians believe their worldview is true. They just happen to be different ideas. You cannot scientifically PROVE either one.

I don't believe in evolution but I believe that Evolution is only being taught in schools due to the fact that it has nothing to do with worshiping or praising a god. Evolution is a myth that some people choose or choose not to believe in, and I guess that part is left to us 2 decide.
