I enlisted in the Marines, but Army is probably around the same w/ these topics.

-How long is the Machine Gunners Course at the School of Infantry?
-Whats the difference between a pull up and a "dead pull up"?
-This one might just sound plain stupid but when you have to do crunches; do they mean like situps or when your on your back w/ knees curled up and just kind of raise your head and kiss your knee?
-And to my knowledge, the Machine Gunners use the 40mm, 50 Cal, and 7.62 along w/ other stuff but those are the main ones. What gun do you see most Machine Gunners using in Iraq?

----
As you probably noticed I havnt ENLISTED, but Im in the Delayed Program for when I get out of high school this year. Thanks for the help.

First, devil dog, dont be asking army guys questions; It's stupid. Second, pull up without swinging. School lasts till its over, and you will shoot what you are given. Go watch Full Metal Jacket until you know all the lines and think the first half is funny, and remember that there is absolutely nothing you can do that will prepare you for what you are about to experience at the depot. And it only gets stranger from there.

Semper Fi, and dont forget to join the VFW if you are lucky enough to get in the sh**

Machine gunners coarse is 8 weeks long in SOI

A dead pull up is where you start out hanging (arms locked straight ) then you do a pull up and go all the way back down.

Crunch is where you have your arms crossed across your chest hands on your biceps/triceps. Keeping your arms on your chest without lifting the off your body then doing a sit up. You lift up to where your elbows touch legs then back down.

Most use 7.62 240 machine gun , .50 cal , and Mark 19. along with the m16/ or m4 and a SAW.

Some machine gunners are attachend to line companys that do alot of support by fire for the rifleman. But the ones we would roll with were apart of the Combined Anti Armor Team (CAAT) and they are the guys that roll around in the Humvees with the .50 cal or Mark 19's on top of them

Semper fi hope that helps. And ask your recruiter he can better explain some things. Dont talk to the Army they are weak and will pollute your mind. :Ha

I can only answer the last one: the SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon). Portable by one guy (the assistant gunner carries more ammo boxes), full auto fire only. One heck of a weapon.

There are still M-60's out there, even though they are a bit old nowadays. Ma-Deuce (M-2) aren't the only vehicle-mounted weapons in existence. You may also run into chain grenade throwers mounted on vehicles... Shoots grenades like MG (thunk thunk thunk thunk thunk). Wahoo! :)

I was army machine gun is just a coarse taught in basic.

Dead pull is going from a stopped position not using momentum from last pull up.

Crunches i am not sure about in marines but army it depends on who is leading pt.

main gun used i believe is a 240B or 240G but thats army they are both 7.62mm.
