congratulations !
I thought looking at names was one of the most fun things about pregnancy.
Some things to consider are: 1) what quality do you especially want to encourage in your child ? ...sometimes they "grow into" the name that was chosen for them. This can be more likely if they know at an early age what their name means.
2) what people do you want your child to admire? and WHY ?
3) is there a family name you want to continue ? (for example: in my dad's line, it's tradition to give a son his father's first name as the son's middle name, and the son his own first name.)
4) Are you okay with nicknames ? If so, are there any you'd really dislike ? (example: if you name a boy William, and you're okay with Bill but not with Willy, plan to tell people that.)
5) what about initials ? The famous General Grant hated his initials, because they spelled "HUG" (Hiram Ulyssys Grant) & the other boys always teased him about it.
6) spelling is one way to make a name unique. There are many ways to spell most names -- just try to make it unique, but not a headache for the child.
7) Believe it or not, pronunciation can be a factor in your choice. I know a family whose oldest boy was adopted, & has special needs; he has a hard time pronouncing "L", so they gave their second child a name that was pretty for her but also that he could pronounce.
8) don't be afraid of what "the other kids" might do to your child's name. I know a couple who tried very hard to create a unique & pretty name for their daughter, and thought they'd found it...until five years later, when kids poked fun at her by mangling her name . Life is like that; you think, & ask advice, and maybe pray -- & then you just make the best choice you can. Teach your child the special qualities that made you choose that name for him (or her); consistently voice approval for those qualities, and your child will be happy with the name you select. And despite our parents' best efforts, most of us have days now & then when we wish for a different name: when your child voices that thought, don't take that wish as a rebuke to you personally. They'll get past it. It's just another part of growing up & being comfortable with who we are. Congratulations again ! your baby is fortunate to have a mommy who cares & thinks ahead as you are doing. You'll do just fine.

Watch the credits at the end of tv shows, movies etc. You can see some interesting names there sometimes. Surf the web. There are tons of sites for baby names. Make a list, narrow it down. Go back to your list in a couple of months and see if any of those names still appeal to you. Revise if necessary. We had it down to two names when we went to the hospital and had to wait until we saw our son before we knew which name it was going to be.
Congrats and good luck

I chose family names - Charles for a boy, and Mae for a girl - for middle names and then my hubby and I were trying to figure out a name to go with them. We ended up with Brennan Charles and Olivia Mae...we now have a BCH running around. When picking names please don't forget to look at the initials...the world can be cruel not just with names, but initials, too. Try to think of names of friends you had growing up, names from songs you like (like the GooGoo Dolls "Iris"). From wherever you find inspiration! Good luck!

depends on your nationality, but Greek names are always beautiful, especially goddess's. Go to a book store, buy a Starbucks coffee, and sit down with your significant other and have fun with a baby book of names, that is how my wife and I came up with our kids names.
