There are a lot of Hindu Muslim marriages happening. I personally dont think it is a good idea. You lose your identity. THere has to be a better way to deal with the Hindu Muslim conflict. Marrying within each other is not the solution. If marriages take place, spouse should be converted. Here is one thing I believe that is necessary to do. There has to be awareness about Islam and educate the people in India about Islam and tell them what the real Islam is. Things in Islam are for a reason. If we expect conversion, there is a reason for it. It does not mean we are intolerant. We are here for a message. However, messages are done through love and patience. We do not teach forced conversions. Therefore, if there are Hindu Muslim marriages, the Muslim spouse must explain his/her spouse what Islam is. It requires preserving your identity. There is more to life than just love. It requires responsibility on what your future generations would be like. Think about it.

I agree. There should not be Hindu Muslim marriages in India. Indian law must be amended to disallow Muslims from marrying anybody.

It is an old story. Even if the parents of both the boy and girl are willing the marriage is opposed by the neighbours and community. We read lots of news about the honour killing. Even though the constitution grants the freedom Today's religious fanatics do not favour the Hindu Muslim Marriage. People do not use their reasoning power, but thy just get carried away by th interpretation an opinion of these fanatics. People have forgotten that Leaders like Motilal Nehru had muslim wife without changing the religion.

If there is no forced conversion, then you are right that the spouses should talk about and decide themselves if they want to change their religion to Islam or Hinduism. And like you said, they don't have to lose their identity. They can just keep their religions.

are you truly that arrogant?

I mean you really don't even see how arrogant and insane you sound, do you?

if you don't love someone enough to accept them for who they are, differing religion or not, then why the hell would you get married?

do you not give your offspring the credit of free will to chose their own beliefs?

you should not change your religion to get married. and you should not expect anyone else to change their religion to marry you.

honestly if at any point "so when are you going to convert to my religion" is asked, then that is when the relationship needs to end. and anyone who does NOT end the relationship outright after being asked that. is an idiot.

you obviously mean that the woman should change to your muslim way of thinking..'my way or the high way' - so you are wrong...you ARE intolerant!

marriage should be for love and love alone..and if its not - then it wont work out. may i add that nobody in a marriage should lose their identity...please get off of your soap-box!!

Has is occurred to you they don't actually marry to stop wars, but because they love each other?

Personally i think Islamics should go celibate if they want to cop an attitude about it. Prejudice is so unbecoming.
