To me it was this one. In the 70's there was a religion called "Lightening Jesus Amen". The men wore sackcloth and shaved their heads except for one long braid which was grown so that Jesus would have something to grab onto when he raptured them. They used to come into the area shopping mall and cry out doom and destruction. Of course they were always escorted to the door.

Likely The Church of the Subgenius, maybe the Discordians. FSM is to philosophical and is, like the Invisible Pink Unicorn, making to hard of a point.
The subgeniai(?spelling) had an end of the world date set for them to get saved by alien space ships. The space ships were a no show so the Subgeniuses decided that they might have got the year wrong and have their end of the world gathering every year. I hear it is still a pretty good party.

Please, let me open the word 'religion'. Thank you. I think that the silliest religion is about our bodies. We live in a time where the body has considered near an idol. So we see boys and girls that aren't able to become old with naturalness. full of complexes and fears. In many countries that it's cause of suicides. When do we'll understand that the body is mortal and, instead, the mind can continue to grow up until we'll die? Yes, body is important, specially when we are young, but it should better to synchronize it with the mind, I think. Ciao.

My wife and I were watching public broadcasting and this infomercial came on. It was spreading the "truth" (yeah right, like I have not heard that before) and about how Jesus is on Earth.. This religion is full of terrorists, and yet here it is right on a public TV spreading it's beliefs ..

No contest, would have to be Scientology. The only religion invented by a science fiction writer. That throws up a pretty big red flag to me.

Oh it's got to be Scientology without a doubt (if you can even call that crap a religion). I'm amazed at the stupid things the Scientologists believe. It's hard to understand why anyone with even half a brain could believe in their stupid space-ship crap.
