of one-fifth of the racers in front of you and five-sixth of the racers in back of you total the number of racers. If there are less than 50 bikes on the track, how many cyclists are in the race?

The answer I think your looking for is 31.

Your question should read 1/5 of the OTHER riders a head
and 5/6 of the OTHER riders behind.

Pretty good spot to be in. How long left to go? I might need to break away before the sprint finish.

At that point you need to take a drink & keep pedaling. If it is Sum41 then your cadence should improve as they sing fast.

hmm.. several hours of pedaling on a closed circuit makes me wish that I was on a mountain road far away..
