I know what you mean.People are shocked when they hear about horseslaughter and dog and cat fur trade, but then they eat a hamburger or bacon without thinking twice about it.

Excellent point buddy. I know in Korea I do not know which other country eat dog meat. I guess the sentiment is that a dog is a family member and you certainly do not want to eat your little brother. But you are right.

Because dogs are bred to be 'companion animals'. Dogs have personality, and we LOVE our dogs! They are nearly family members to us. They are our 'best friends'. I wouldn't eat my pet chicken or my pet cow if I got to know them personally and developed a relationship with them.
Many humans have warm & fuzzy feelings about dogs, and dogs transcend the 'livestock' category.
Essentially, you are absolutely right. But, emotionally, we can't handle the idea of eating 'Fido'. We find it distasteful and immoral.

i would eat a dog if i am hungry hell ill eat a puppy or a baby kitten if i was starving but yes most people are hypocritical in there way of thinking but our culture is so contradictory it does no good bringing the truth to light because people hate to be proved wrong or critiqued its just the way things are and hopefully it will change one day

I think because a lot of people think of dogs as a pet, rather than dinner. They know that a dog will bring them happiness, companionship, and laughter. I don't think a cow or chicken will do that. Plus, I don't think a dog steak will taste very good. And, they are not bred to be eaten.

Because the dog is domesticated more as a human companion or hunting partner, than cows and chickens, which are domesticated to be docile.

Maybe it's hypocritical. Or, there might be actual distinctions that matter.
Personally, while I don't eat dog, I don't find it any more immoral that eating cow (which I do).

Good question. Is it illegal to raise and breed dogs for butchering and eating?
