I'm a Mormon. That's my religion. A lot of people tell us that we're going to hell. My dad's aunt told him that one day. We learn the samethings that the eithers do. Do you know why?

The polygamy thing

I am a Catholic. I will tell you first that mainstream Christianity does not consider any Mormon to be a Christian. That is why you encounter so much negativity.

Why are Mormons not considered Christian? Let me count the ways....first, there is the idea of baptising the dead ( only the living can be baptaized), the idea that Jesus is not the only son of the one living and true God, the idea that a good Mormon man will be a 'god' in the afterlife- complete with a specific planet for his family....and finally, the whole story of Joseph Smith and Moroni- and it just so happens that NO ONE ever saw the golden tablets except for Smith?

I dated an LDS priest in college- his father was a Bishop. They told me these things. The relationship would never have worked out anyway- even outside the bizarre beliefs of Mormonism.

Blessings to you- I hope one day you can slip from the bonds of Mormonism and find true Christianity- in the Catholic Church.

All too often a person will hold their personal religious beliefs as the "one true" belief, and anything that strays too far from that is simply wrong. Period.

There are Christian denominations (or sects or whatever) that will tell you that if you don't accept Jesus, you go to hell. Not only that, but if you don't accept Jesus in specifically the way they say you have to, you go to hell. So, the list of people who are going to hell includes Jews, Muslims, atheists, Wiccans, Buddhists, Hindi, and even other Christians, like Catholics, Mormons, or some of the more liberal Prodestant denominations.

What they fail to realize is that there are others who believe just as strongly that they have the "one true" religion. A Muslim of this type might have a list looking like this: Jews, Christians, atheist, Wiccans, Buddhists, Hindi, and even other Muslims of a different sect.

If someone tells you you're going to hell, just say, "Yes, that's nice. Thank you for your concern." If they insist, just walk out of the room. Don't blow up, don't argue, just let it roll off your back. The worst thing you can do is react.

Oh, and not to worry. I'm up there in that list, too.

Will I tell you why you're a Mormon? Or will I tell you why people think you're going to Hell? OK, I'll answer both.
You are Mormon, more than likely, because that is your parents' religion so you were brought up in the same.
Some people think you are going to Hell for the same reasons those people say all Atheists, Muslims, Hindus, Buhddists, etc are going to Hell. Because they read it in a book and other poeple supposedly closer to or more informed about God than they tell them to think that way.
I remember reading in a book once that the Dark Queen, Tahkisis, had entered the mortal realm and it was up to one guy to stab her in the neck with a lance to beat her. That didn't make me start practicing my jousting.
Listen to your own heart. If your religious choices are good enough for you, then everyone else can just shove off. Spiritual belief needs to be felt from the inside.

As a Christan I do not think that Mormons are following a correct path to God, but I must admit I never meet a Mormon I did not like or who was not at heart a good kind person.

No one can tell you or me or any one who is and who is not going to Hell. Only God can make that call and none of us our God.

I know that Jesus said that He is the only way into heaven. So being a follower of Jesus is a ticket in but as to what is a ticket out, I don't know and no one else does either.

Actually, you DON'T "learn the same things that the eithers [sic] do".

The Book of Mormon attempts to add a LOT while still maintaining that it is still Christian (which I'm not arguing either way...just stating a fact).

It's the "adding a lot" that makes other groups very uncomfortable. Along with the statement that LDS is the only true church and that all else is apostasy (LDS words, not mine).

i don't know much about what mormons are taught, although i think i heard from somewhere that you also have another book you learn from other than the bible...? i don't know if that is true! i believe that jesus died on the cross for our sins and once we accept him as lord and savior he sends his holy spirit into our hearts to live there forever, until he comes back. we must also repent and confess our sins and turn from them. i read my bible (niv or king james version) and i find that to be the only source i need. i hope that helps... just rememer that everyone has a chance to have a personal relationship with Jesus and you should seek him out for yourself and not let anyone (mom, dad, or anyone) tell you what to believe. Good luck with all this : )

Well, the bible makes it pretty clear that being humble is a good thing, and mormans seem to believe that the higher their religious title, deacon or whatever, gets them on their own planet as their own little god. Not only is that absolutely ludicrous, but it causes them to believe that getting a title is somehow getting them somewhere in heaven. It just doesn't work like that.

I'm not Christ so I have no idea who's going to hell or heaven, but I would think that was a road I wouldn't want to go down.

Why don't your investigate your "religion" study what it is all about. Most christians view the Mormons as a cult. There are issues concerning the deity of Christ . Find out the difference between relationship and religion. There is plenty of literature out there to help you sort things out. As for people telling you that you are going to hell ask them how they are able to judge your heart.

Many religions believe in an eternal hell. This is not a Biblical teaching. If someone tells you that, they are wrong. And the reason is because Satan is doing his best to confuse everyone because he knows he only has a short time left.

My Grandfather is a mormon bishop and my mother was raised in that church (although she is not "mormon" anymore).

From what I know it is that Mormon's do not believe that Jesus was God incarnate and if you do not believe in that then you do not believe in Jesus. Also, my grandfather believes that by doing good things qualifies you for a higher level in heaven, which is not the case. God looks at the "goodness" of people like filthy rags unto him. The only way to be saved is through faith and by the grace of God. You can not "work" your way to heaven. And mormon's believe in the book of mormon which was written in the 1800's by a 14 year old boy.

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2: 8-9
