Does your child seem ready to potty train?

We read lots of books to my stepdaughter and talked to her about being a big girl now and using the potty.

We used Pull-Ups only when we were out of the house and couldn't be instantly near a toilet. Otherwise, we just picked a day and told her no more diapers. We had plenty of accidents, but she knew that wet was yucky. We also started by putting her on the toilet at regular time periods and waited for her to go. Then lots of praise. And as time went by, the regular times we sat her down got farther and farther apart.

Otherwise, my only bit of advise is to BE PATIENT!!!!!!!!!!!! If your child really isn't ready yet, he/she will let you know. Try again in a few months. Just think- he/she won't graduate from high school in diapers. :)

Need more info
When i started with my daughter, she asked, so I out her on it and made a big deal when she used it. I put her in panties almost immediately, because she hates being wet, and she only has a few accidents a week now, most just her not quite making it and we've only been doing it for a little more than a month now. Every child is different, so just try different concepts out until you find the one that works for you and your child. Also, if in daycare, talk to the teachers, most are willing to help with suggestions.

What about the training? boy or girl, age, ????

My girl was the hardest, but I did the potty dance every time she went and gave her a reward and it worked. She still sleeps with pull ups on at night cuz she can't feel herself having to go.

well how old is your child. Don't start too early. Let her/him see you go to the potty. Ask him/her if they would like to go to. Buy a pottty seat and sit them on it on occasion. However, don't punish them by making them sit for a long time on it. Gradually start taking them to the potty.
