look at the top of the web page. Yahoo in the UK or Ireland says YAHOO (in big ketters) then slightly smaller under it says UK and Ireland...simple...

Right now I'm on Yahoo! Canada, and I'm Canadian. I usually use Yahoo! (regular?)... I have seen questions from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Asia... practically everywhere.
If you look at the home page for Yahoo! Answers, and scroll down, you can chose English peaking questions, or (in my case) Canadian questions.

I think the person that told you thinks that they are on yahoo UK. They haven't worked out that you see all the questions yet regardless of where you are
