Kicker S12L52 12" Subwoofer will perform well with lower amounts of power. Always buy from an authorized dealer. You might see this sub for real cheap on ebay or woofersetc.com or something like that, but you will be really dissapointed when you find out it is a fake or used or something like that. There are alot of cheap knock offs out there floating around. You will see alot of these cheap subs without there serial numbers and such. That is because the distrubutor that Kicker authorized to sell thier subwoofer is making a quick buck selling to less than diruputable companies. The serial numbers are removed so they wont be traced back to the dishonest distrubutor. It might be really cheap online, but wouldnt you want someone to talk to from a brick and mortar store than trying to call some website and being jerked around all day? Plus you will get Kicker warranty.

EDIT: I think some people may be mis informed on Pioneers 180Db world record holding subwoofer. They got this number with 52 amplifiers and 13 subwoofers in a custom enclousure built only for SPL. Most of your sanctioned IASCA (International Auto Sound Challenge Association)competitors are using Kicker products. NOT Pioneer. Check it out and you will be suprised Please don't believe companies marketing hype. Just because a company is currently holding the world record does not mean they are the best for the average consumer. I reccomended a product I myself have used, not something I have read in a magazine or saw on the internet.

audiovolt has it right don't believe all the marketing b.s
The kicker L5 is a good choice in as long as you follow the spl box designs from kicker. If you have the room try the 15"
I would also recommend to the American bass VFL12 extreme
or even the hifonics xx1612 these are also offered in 15" ,but to ensure you stayed inside you budget I listed the 12's

dude i get noise complaints with my old 18 watt speaker systems.. I do live in an apartment though... This is a pretty dumb question though, unless you own a concert hall or something you will not be using max power most of the time

I bet you can find a 12" kicker L7 on ebay....i bought mine from a shop a year ago for $250. It kicks *** but what made it better was my 6-speaker Kicker co-ax setup. no complains whatsoever. cheers!

for SPL you gotta go with the world record holder. not Kicker, as some would have you think, but Pioneer Premier. I'll give you 2 links to woofers that are under $300, and will pound like you want. good luck.

the new sony 15's. for the price and quality, they will seriously make your jaw chatter. a friend of mine has three in the back of a camaro, and it will make those gay fuzzy dice bounce like crazy off your rearview mirror
