Cath-licker priests do not use the bible. They always use their little black book and splash a lot of water on the couple.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 where it speaks of the benefits of having a partner...emphasis on verse 12 where it talks about a threefold cord cannot quickly be torn in two. Since God is the originator of marriage it would be nice to use this one showing that having God in your marriage will bind the marriage even stronger than just a husband and wife. Though the story of Boaz and Ruth is nice, what Ruth said about following was said to Naomi her mother in law. Boaz performed "brother-in-law marriage" to Ruth since she was widowed and for the purpose of producing a family line for Naomi. The example set therein was not that of love but obedience to God as seen by the blessing bestowed upon them by being part of the ancestral line of Jesus Christ through their firstborn Obed.

I think another popular one is Ephesians 5:22-28 Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. (23) For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. (24) Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. (25) Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her (26) to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, (27) and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. (28) In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. Proverbs 18:22 He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD. Proverbs 31. Start at verse 10. Not verse 2 :-) Also, ask your pastor or wedding coordinator for ideas. They have probably heard of all kinds of good ones.

for you shall go out with joy,and be led out with peace; The mountains and the hills shall break forth into singing before you. Isaiah 55:12
the standard love is patient,etc...is nice but maybe add your own application/experience to illustrate the point- non believers will appreciate the message in a relational and tangible way.

Our verse was: NASB: Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.

Philippians 4
6(H)Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by (I)prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
7And (J)the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will (K)guard your hearts and your (L)minds in (M)Christ Jesus.
Or Philippians 2
3Do nothing from (E)selfishness or (F)empty conceit, but with humility of mind (G)regard one another as more important than yourselves;
4(H)do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.
5(I)Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in (J)Christ Jesus,

I've heard Ruth 1:16 (though I'm not sure as to its prevalence) read between a husband and bride:
Ruth said: 'Entreat me not to leave you, or turn back from following after you;forwherever you go, I will go; and wherever you lodge, I will lodge;your people shall be mypeople, and your God, my God.' "RUTH 1:16
