Really, why do people do this. I mean some people plus myself will give sincere, honest answers to questions. We are trying to help. Why do people have to make us feel dumb when we are really just trying to be helpful?! What do you think?

I am being honest, not trying to make a dumb question. I really study the questions being asked, and I find myself to be very intelligent and only give what I think is a correct answer. If you think this question is so dumb, then why dumb yourself and your answer by placing something so mean and pointless.

Thanks to you all who are being serious, I appreciate it :)

I empathise with you. Some askers have pre-concieved ideas about the type of answers they want. If your answer is not in line with what they want to hear, it is a bad answer. Some of the questions asked are what I called couch questions eg "Why is God so unfair ?" Askers want you to tell him why is God unfair and not whether God is fair. Best thing to do - don't answer them.

It's all opinion. I try to vote on answers as much as I can, as it looks like so many people neglect the only perk of getting off level 1. Yahoo really needs to have more for each level you go up, and rating isn't enough.
I try to give honest answers as well, they should have the best answer and highest rated answer at the bottom of each resolved question, 10 pt for each.

Hey, When I do it I'm not trying to down you, I suppose most folks are doing the best they can. It is just that I feel that the answer is misleading of simply incorrect, so I vote it down to indicate to anyone reading that someone out here has a different idea. I might be wrong, but I've spent a lot of time studying stuff, and if I'm not pretty sure that "your" answer is misleading or wrong, I will not down rate it.

You can't take anything on this forum seriously. Most of the thumbs down seem to be by very young kids. I give a thumbs down when the advice given is wrong and possibly dangerous ... for instance giving aspirin to a cat .. that will kill the cat.

I have often wondered the EXACT same thing, myself. I get especially irritated when the question does not require opinions, BUT FACTS -- and I still get a thumbs down when I KNOW I'M RIGHT! For instance...

"What color is the sky?" someone might ask.
"The sky is blue," I'd answer.

Next thing I know...
thumbs down, thumbs down, thumbs down!

People are people no matter what and no matter what you or others say, people will still; give bad ratings. Plus different people have different opinions

1) because they disagree with you.
2) because they didn't want to see your answer.
