It's just a means of creating the illusion that they are actually under threat from a handful of people who are under occupation who refuse to surrender and roll over and die. You can call it defense if you think you can preempt someone, but in all actuality it's just a charade for those who criticize the Israeli government for not doing enough when some settler gets shot and the Israelis call for blood. It's state terrorism against an oppressed population, nothing more and nothing less.

instead of whining about the Israeli's why don't you focus your efforts on getting Hamas and Fatah to stop killing each other? or why don't you focus your energy on the question of why is it that the other Arab nations surrounding Israel and "palestine" are in fact the ones responsible for the whole mess, yet they are also the ones who refuse to allow the "palestinians" have any land in their countries, and do indeed force the palestinians to live the way they have been for the last 50 years.

it's a travesty, the way those people have been treated, and the way they've been lied to. the really sick thing is that they and half the world is now convinced that the lies are true.

The Palestinians live on land occupied by Israel, and therefore attacks carried out by Palestinians are considered , by the Israelis, to be attacks on Israeli territory. Whether or not those occupied lands really ARE Israeli territory depends on which side you are on, Palestinian or Israeli. Part of the reasoning behind Palestinian attacks is the fact that they see the occupied territories as land that was stolen from them, land which they had settled in for generations.

And what may "these atrocities" that you'd be referring to?

And what about the suicide bombers the Arabs keep sending into Israeli territory? Those don't count as atrocities?

Look at history, dude.

1946 -- UN and Britis Mandate territory to be divided into Jewish and Arab state. Jewish reps accepted the proposal, Arab reps don't, and outside Arab leaders instigated a riot. Officially there is a State of Palestine now... but not even the Arabs will accept it.

1947 -- Jewish state declare independence as State of Israel within mandate boundaries. Surrounding Arab countries promptly invade this new state, trying to drive the Jewish into the sea. Unfortunately, they soon got their arses kicked, and begged UN to save them. Israel is now firmly established.

1949 -- Instead leaving the leftover territory alone as "Palestine", the neighboring Arab countries such as Egypt, Syria, and Jordan decided each take a piece, ensuring there will be no more Palestine.

The Arabs have just as much to blame for lack of peace in the Middle East. Think about that.

Absolute nonsense. Move to Israel and live there for six months and then let's hear what you have to say? How would you like it if rockets went over your head (and some times very near you) every day? The Israelis are peaceful people but if provoked they will fight like hell.

Make spell check your friend. The Palestinians don't want peace. It's all lip service. I think Israel has been far more patient than most Americans would have been. We'd have turned that piece of real estate into a crater years ago and been done with the problem. Be real.
