I have dirty blonde hair and want blonde highlights. I want them to blend in though and not stand out too much. Any advice?

Just pick a color of highlight that is just a shade or two lighter than your natural color and it should blend nicely and not stand out. The way to get the best result is to go to a salon to get it done. If you are going to do it yourself then call the consultants at L'Oreal or Clairol etc. and they can give you proper advice. They all have toll free customer service lines in the US.

go to a salon that knows what theyre doing...the extra $$ is totally worth it!

explain what you want and make it clear that:

1. you dont want it to be very obvious
2. you want it to be natural (if its a nice enough place theyll blend a special color to match your natural highlights)
3. Tell them you want a few hairs at a time...takes longer but a bajillion times better!
4.specify that you want complete look highlights, bc if they just do the top, they look very fake.
5. The best way to get what youre looking for is to make sure to ask them to do the highlights so they can grow out and not look horrible.

Thats what i did and i was very happy with my hair. Everyone loved it and no one knew it was highlights *(the people i told were shocked to hear, they thought it was natural from the summer) Now theyre a few inches grown out, and they still look fabulous, and it doesnt look like theyre growing out.

Good luck!

Hope i could help! :{o

Well, its good that I have dirty blonde hair too! I got that "Frost and Glow" stuff. It's a really nice golden blondish, really light blonde colour. It looks great. I also got black underneath my blonde. But I don't think you want that. Get a lighter blonde or a light brown colour. I think the light blonde will look better.

Get them done professionally. Make sure the stylist pulls tiny little sections of hair instead of giving you chunky 'streaks'. If you make sure your intentions are clear then they should get it right.
